Our culture is overloaded with noise. Early today before all of theĀ  man made noises were going about their business, I was able to listen to the beautiful sounds of God’s natural world. The birds were singing as if they were expecting spring to arrive.

I often think of our kids today with the noise of video games and music. With controls in their hands and audio plugs in their ears. When do they ever come off their emotional highs and relax their body, soul and mind.

I was reminded of that quietness today when I officiated the funeral service of a women that had lived for 90 years. Her family commented upon the fact that she had a gentle and quiet spirit.

I thought of I Peter 3:4 ” rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.”

I Kings 19:12 ” and after the fire a still small voice.

How about you? Have you had a timeĀ  today when you were able to block out the noise of the world and have a quiet time with God and listen to His still small voice?

It is worth your time daily to listen for that still small voice, and it’s sort of precious to Him.
